The guide book

Tier list

All 121 playable characters ranked for Version 7.1, split by the job they do in a team. Every entry says why it sits where it does, so you can weigh the reasoning instead of the letter.

Read this first

This is GenGuru's opinion, current as of Version 7.1. It weighs how much a character lifts a team in both overworld play and endgame content such as Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater, assuming reasonable builds and few or no constellations. Most characters clear almost all content once they are built and placed in a team that suits them, so pull for the characters you like and use this list to break ties.

SS tier

Define the strongest teams of the version and make most content noticeably easier.

Main damage dealers (DPS)

  • Arlecchino PyroPolearm★★★★★

Self-sufficient Pyro damage that barely needs Energy or healing, so she slots into many teams with little setup.

  • Flins ElectroPolearm★★★★★

The defining Lunar-Charged carry. He stays on the field and turns every Electro-Charged tick into big damage.

  • Mavuika PyroClaymore★★★★★

Nightsoul-powered Pyro damage and a burst that lifts the whole team, in Vaporize, Melt or plain Pyro lineups.

  • Nefer DendroCatalyst★★★★★

The on-field Lunar-Bloom carry. With Hydro and Dendro supports around her she turns Bloom into her own damage.

  • Neuvillette HydroCatalyst★★★★★

His long Charged Attack beam hits everything in a line, heals him, and works in almost any team with Hydro around it.

  • Sandrone CryoClaymore★★★★★

A Cryo claymore carry who turns Superconduct into Stellar-Conduct and makes Electro teams hit far above their old ceiling.

  • Skirk CryoSword★★★★★

A Cryo sword carry with huge burst windows in Freeze and Hydro-Cryo teams, and few rivals at clearing single targets.

  • Vesna AnemoSword★★★★★

The newest Stellar Swirl carry. Her Spirit Blades hit hard and she keeps scaling with every Anemo and Swirl buff you add.

  • Zibai GeoSword★★★★★

The Lunar-Crystallize carry. With a Hydro partner she turns her DEF into strong on-field Geo damage.

Off-field damage (Sub-DPS)

  • Durin PyroSword★★★★★

Strong off-field Pyro damage plus resistance shred, which helps Pyro carries and reaction teams alike.

Off-field Cryo damage, healing and Hydro and Cryo resistance shred. The best partner for most Cryo carries.

Off-field Electro, a shield and Lunar-Charged support in one slot. Hard to replace in Electro-Charged teams.

  • Linnea GeoBow★★★★★

Off-field Geo damage, Geo resistance shred and healing for Lunar-Crystallize. She carries a lot of team value.

  • Columbina HydroCatalyst★★★★★

She enables every Lunar reaction family and applies Hydro off the field, so many of the strongest teams start with her.

A team-wide damage buff and steady off-field Hydro. Most carries do noticeably more damage with her beside them.

  • Iansan ElectroPolearm★★★★

A large ATK buff and healing in a 4-star package. Strongest with Natlan teammates who keep moving.

  • Kaedehara Kazuha AnemoSword★★★★★

Groups enemies and raises the damage of the element he swirls. One of the most flexible supports in the game.

  • Lauma DendroCatalyst★★★★★

The core Lunar-Bloom support: she shreds Dendro and Hydro resistance and raises Bloom damage for the team.

  • Odette CryoSword★★★★★

The enabler for Stellar reactions. She makes Superconduct and Cryo Swirl lineups worth building at all.

  • Vodyanitsa HydroCatalyst★★★★★

New in 7.1: HP-scaling healer who shreds Hydro and Cryo resistance and keeps Stellar Swirl teams running.

  • Xilonen GeoSword★★★★★

Resistance shred for most elements, healing and fast swaps. Fits nearly any team that deals elemental damage.
