Terms of Service

These terms explain what you can expect from GenGuru and what we ask of you in return. They are written to be read, not skimmed past, so they are kept short. In these terms, "GenGuru", "we" and "us" mean the person who runs this website, and "you" means anyone who visits it.

Agreeing to these terms

By opening or reading any page on GenGuru, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site. Nothing else is required of you: there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to accept in a pop-up.

What GenGuru is

GenGuru is a free, hobby-run website with guide content for players of Genshin Impact, such as notes on elements, team building and character builds. It is a static, read-only site:

• there are no user accounts, logins or profiles;
• nothing is for sale, and there are no payments or subscriptions;
• you cannot post comments, upload files or submit content through the site.

Some sections are still being written and are marked as coming soon. We may add, change or remove pages at any time.

Unofficial status

GenGuru is an unofficial fan project. It is not made, approved, sponsored or endorsed by HoYoverse, miHoYo or COGNOSPHERE, and nobody here speaks for them. Do not treat anything on this site as an official statement about the game. The Trademark page explains who owns Genshin Impact and its artwork and lists every game image used here.

Who owns the content

There are two kinds of material on this site, and they belong to different people.

• Our own work. The written guides, explanations, page design and code that we created are owned by GenGuru's author. You are welcome to read them, share links to them, and quote short passages with a link back to the page. Please do not republish whole pages or large parts of them, or reuse them commercially, without asking us first.
• HoYoverse's material. Genshin Impact's name, logo, characters, artwork, icons and other game assets belong to COGNOSPHERE and its affiliates. We use them as a fan site for identification and commentary. These terms give you no rights in that material; any use you make of it is between you and its owner. See the Trademark page for details.

Acceptable use

Please use the site the way you would use any public website. In particular, do not:

• run scrapers, crawlers or other automated tools in a way that puts a heavy load on the site or gets in the way of other visitors (ordinary search-engine indexing is fine);
• try to break into, probe for weaknesses in, overload or otherwise interfere with the site or the servers that host it;
• copy our pages and present them as your own work, or present our content as official game information from HoYoverse;
• use the site for anything that is unlawful where you are, or to harm other people.

Guides are opinion

Everything we publish about how to play, such as which characters to build, how to put a team together or how to spend in-game resources, is our opinion, offered for information only. Other experienced players may reasonably disagree.

Genshin Impact also changes. Updates add characters and systems, adjust numbers and rework mechanics, so a guide that was accurate when it was written can become out of date. Check the date on a page, compare it with the game version you are playing, and treat the in-game description as the final word when the two differ.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". We try to get things right, but we do not promise that any content is accurate, complete or current, or that the site will always be online, fast or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, GenGuru and its author are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using, or being unable to use, the site or its content. That includes decisions you make in the game based on what you read here, such as how you spend wishes, Primogems, resin, materials or real money. You are responsible for your own choices in the game.

Some places do not allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded. Where that is the case, the limits above apply only as far as local law permits, and any rights you have that cannot be excluded are not affected.

Links to other sites

Pages may link to websites we do not run, such as the game's official channels. We provide those links for convenience only. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices; their own terms apply when you visit them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms, so it is worth checking back now and then.

Disputes

If something on the site causes you a problem, please email us first. Most issues can be sorted out with a quick message. Any dispute we cannot resolve that way will be handled under the law that applies to it. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
